Butterfly Valve is a type of valve that is used in pipelines to regulate and isolate the flow of liquids. These valves have a disk that moves in a clockwise or anticlockwise direction to adjust the flow of the liquids. If the disk is rotated by 90 degrees, it means that the valve is either completely closed or completely open.Butterfly valves are fast and easy to operate. These valves operate in a similar manner like ball valves with the only difference being that butterfly valves use a disk to stop, regulate and start the flow, whereas ball valves use a spherical solid ball to stop, regulate and start the flow.
When it comes to regulating the flow of liquids in pipeline operations, butterfly valves are the most commonly used valves because they are cost-effective, light in weight and easy to operate. These valves can be either manually operated with the help of a hand wheel or can be actuated (i.e., movable with the help of an actuator). An actuator is installed with a large diameter butterfly valve.
